We are just three weeks away from Barcelona’s home opener in the 2025-26 _La Liga_ season, a match that was supposed to be played at the partially renovated _Camp Nou_, and the club continue to race against the clock to have their home ready in time for that game.
The club had hoped to buy some more time by requesting the league to reverse the calendar and move the Matchday 4 match to _Mestalla_, home of Valencia, but _La Liga_ has denied Barça’s request according to _Cadena COPE_.
The _Blaugrana_ must play that game at home in the weekend of 13-14 September, and despite [securing a return to _Montjuïc_](/barcelona-news/99464/barcelona-secure-return-to-montjuic-amid-camp-nou-delays) until the end of February 2026, Barça cannot face Valencia at the Olympic Stadium because of a concert taking place that same weekend.
If Camp Nou isn’t ready in time, the two current backup options for the Valencia match are the _Estadi Johan Cruyff_, who of Barça _Femení_ and Barça _Atlètic_, or the _Montilivi_ Stadium, home of Barça’s local rivals Girona.
