David Moyes led Everton to their first victory in the Premier League this season after beating Brighton 2-0 on Sunday.

Everton hosted Brighton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 24 August, with the Toffees starting the new era at their new home in fine fashion.

Moyes had Jack Grealish to thank after the result, with the Manchester City loanee registering two assists for the Blues.

The Merseyside outfit will undoubtedly be looking to make further progress this season after making some impressive signings, which could potentially see the Scottish manager pick up a prestigious accolade.

David Moyes to be manager of the season after Everton success in Premier League

Chris Sutton believes the Merseyside outfit still have a lot of work to do in terms of their incoming transfers before the end of August.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The ex-Norwich City forward has suggested the Toffees are one of the teams that may be able to get a European place in the Premier League this season.

If the Blues do finish in one of the top seven positions, Sutton feels Moyes should be crowned manager of the season.

Speaking on BBC’s 606 on 24 August, the Englishman said: “If Everton get a European place, Moyes should be manager of the season. I mean, he needs a lot more help in terms of players coming into the club.”

Dan Friedkin must back David Moyes at Bramley-Moore Dock

Moyes’ heroics at Goodison Park last season after replacing Sean Dyche showcase that he has the ability to bring success to L5.

The Scottish manager won the UEFA Conference League with West Ham United, and there’s no reason to think he can’t do the same with the right tools at the Toffees.

Tyler Dibling’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock seems all but confirmed, as the Blues look set to pay £40million, including add-ons for the youngster, marking another significant investment from The Friedkin Group.

Moyes’ record at the Toffees since replacing Dyche

Everton have already spent a lot of money on the likes of Thierno Barry, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish, but they arguably still need more quality options on the bench.

James Garner started at left-back once again for the Merseyside outfit against Brighton, and now there will be concerns around Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam, who were seemingly substituted after picking up knocks in the 2-0 victory.

Blues fans will be confident in Moyes’ abilities, but he needs a competitive squad in L5 to achieve something special at the end of the current campaign.
