Merseyrail has announced plans for Everton's first competitive evening game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this week. The train operator has released its plans for the Blues' Carabao Cup match against Mansfield Town on Wednesday, August 27.

Sandhills station will be the main train station for supporters due to it being a 15-minute walk for supporters travelling to the ground. A new second entrance for fans has been opened and the footbridge at the station is now open to improve access.

Merseyrail will operate a 15-minute timetable for fans before the match and after the final whistle on the Southport, Ormskirk, Hunts Cross and Headbolt Lane lines.

Temporary changes to the timetable will apply to Liverpool-bound services on the Southport line between 5.30pm and 10.30pm.

Moorfields (Old Hall Street exit), James Street (Water Street exit), and Bank Hall stations are also within a 30-minute walk of the ground for use by fans wanting to avoid queues and busy services at Sandhills.

A fan management zone will also be in place at Sandhills to help with queues.

Suzanne Grant, Deputy Managing Director at Merseyrail, said: "We’re proud to support Everton FC and its fans as they settle into their new home at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

"Our teams have worked hard to ensure that travel to and from the match is as smooth and safe as possible.

"With additional services, improved station access, and a dedicated fan management zone at Sandhills, we’re confident supporters will have a positive journey experience.

"We encourage everyone to plan ahead, allow extra time, and follow the guidance of our staff on the day."

Merseyrail said it offers step-free access and Everton will be operating an accessible shuttle service between the station and Boundary Street.

The shuttle service will run from 5pm till kick-off and will continue following the match.

Fans must book in advance in order to use the service and will not be available for those without a pre-booked ticket.
