This week is going to be a very busy one for Leeds United. The Whites have two games in the space of seven days, and will have to navigate the transfer market which closes next week.
Leeds suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Arsenal over the weekend, with Daniel Farke saying his team were outmatched. Fortunately, the Whites have a chance to bounce back in the EFL cup on Tuesday night. They face Sheffield Wednesday in the second round tie. The club are already dealing with some injury problems; Ethan Ampadu is out, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also a doubt for the game.

However, there is a chance that most of the new signings get their full debut in the match.

Daniel Farke delivers Leeds United injury update

In Saturday’s game, Daniel Farke revealed that Ao Tanaka picked up an injury. The midfielder felt something early in the game, but was able to play into the second half. Farke says the latest on the Japanese international is that he will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s game:
“Ethan is definitely out, Ao Tanaka we have to assess in the upcoming days. Apart from this no new injury concerns.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s presence will be down to a late decision, as he ramps up his fitness in training.
”I was a bit tempted on Saturday to let him travel with us but we decided and also together that he needs a few more days on the training pitch.
“But there is a chance right now, more or less from day to day to see him for the first time in the travelling squad for a competitive game.
“It’s edging closer and closer and also we will take a late decision for this game.”
Tanaka injury could force change in plans
Depending on how long the midfielder is confirmed to be out for, Leeds could need to dip into the market this week. Ethan Ampadu’s MCL injury means he is out for at least a month, so fans should not be surprised if Tanaka is also out for a while
With two midfielders out this early in the season, Leeds could try to sign another body in the middle of the park.
