23-year-old wants €45m transfer to Arsenal

Arsenal are pursuing another player before the transfer window closes on September 1.

The Gunners have had a productive summer and have made seven signings.

Earlier today, The Athletic reported that Arsenal have opened talks for Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.

Leverkusen want the defender’s €60 million to be triggered or matched, but Hincapie has asked to leave for closer to €45m, as per Ben Jacobs.

The 23-year-old has requested Leverkusen to negotiate reasonably with Arsenal as he is fully sold on the project, according to HandofArsenal.

Hincapie likely to replace Kiwior

Kiwior has his sights on playing regular first-team football, and Porto are reportedly pushing to sign him after missing out on a transfer last month.

The Primeira Liga outfit are discussing a loan deal with an obligation to buy for over €20m. A transfer would open the door for Arsenal’s move for Hincapie.

The Ecuador international has already given the green light for a move, and the final decision depends on whether Leverkusen will negotiate lower transfer terms.

It is more likely to happen than not as Leverkusen may not want to keep hold of an unsettled player.

Hincapie would be a superb addition to the Arsenal ranks, and appears an upgrade on Kiwior.

The 23-year-old can operate as a central defender or as a left-back. He had a passing accuracy of almost 90 percent in the Bundesliga during the previous campaign.

Hincapie also won 62 percent of his duels with 3.3 recoveries, 3.1 clearances and 1.6 tackles per outing.

He has all the traits to succeed the playing style under manager Mikel Arteta, and there are no surprises Arsenal are pushing for his transfer before the window closes.
