Everton are still active in the transfer market, and are aiming to further reinforce their midfield despite several arrivals.
Jack Grealish shone on his full debut after joining on loan from Manchester City, playing as a left-winger alongside fellow summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in midfield.
Another central midfield option is desired by David Moyes, who let go of Abdoulaye Doucoure at the end of last season.
Moyes is now looking to bring a familiar face to Everton, and he has now made a bid for West Ham veteran Tomas Soucek.

Everton bid for Tomas Soucek rejected
Soucek became a fan favourite at West Ham under Moyes, and the Czech midfielder thrived under the Scot in the Premier League.

With Soucek’s role in the West Ham side diminishing since Moyes’ departure in 2024, Everton have now sensed an opportunity to bring him to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Soucek has made 247 appearances for West Ham since joining from Sparta Prague in 2021.
The midfielder has scored 41 times and provided 13 assists from central midfield, and has also played further up the pitch.
Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has now reported via X (25 August) that Everton have had a bid rejected for Soucek, with Moyes keen on bringing the 30-year-old to Merseyside.
The Friedkin Group now know exactly what to do in the final week of the window with Moyes pursuing his former midfield general, as Everton need more options in the middle.

Tomas Soucek can be Everton’s new Marouane Fellaini
With Moyes clearly identifying Soucek as his preferred midfield target, and the 30-year-old facing an uncertain future at West Ham, TFG now need to up their offer and ensure that the midfielder is signed within the next week.
Soucek would arrive as a physical midfielder alongside Everton’s other options, who can also provide a goal threat and can help in both boxes at set-pieces.
He could be Everton’s new Marouane Fellaini, as an aerial target man in midfield also capable of supporting attacks, and this could see Everton get the best out of Thierno Barry, if Soucek pushes up to offer more physical support to the striker.
