Details Emerge About P.J. Washington’s Potential Contract Extension

The Dallas Mavericks have been very pleased with what they’ve seen from PJ Washington since he joined the team in the 2023-24 season.

But, how pleased are they?

Are they happy enough with Washington to offer him a big extension?

According to Marc Stein, via Legion Hoops, the Mavericks and Washington are “likely” to agree to an extension soon.

Washington is eligible for a four-year deal worth around $90 million, so is that what he will receive?

Washington got his start in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets and played with them until his move to Dallas.

Since coming to the Mavericks, he has averaged 13.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.

He immediately became a starting player for the Mavericks and increased his output during his first full season with the team.

When he moved to Dallas, fans weren’t sure what to expect with Washington.

Because of the previous team he played for, he wasn’t a player who many people talked about, and some people envisioned him being a bench player who only chipped in a few minutes during every game.

But that wasn’t what Washington had in mind, and he has earned his role on the team.

Dallas’ front office is juggling a lot right now.

They are trying to put the past behind them and move on from losing Luka Doncic.

They have been hard at work putting together a solid squad that will get so much better in the new season with the addition of rookie Cooper Flagg.

A new deal with Washington will be costly, but it could be worth it.
