Liverpool made a winning start to its [Premier League](https://www.liverpool.com/premier-league/) title defense 10 days ago, beating Bournemouth by four goals to two at Anfield. And now it is set to take to the field against Newcastle United at St James' Park.
Last time out, Arne Slot's men were much too open and allowed the opposition back into the contest from what should have been a comfortable position. This time, they will need to be much more secure.
Fortunately, Ryan Gravenberch is back from suspension and should help sure up the midfield. But there is a decision to be made at right-back with Jeremie Frimpong sidelined and Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley not long back from injuries of their own.
Elsewhere, Hugo Ekitike could have moved to Newcastle this summer but chose Liverpool. And Alexander Isak, who could have been involved in this fixture for one of the two teams, will be watching along from home.

With Jeremie Frimpong out and Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley only just back, Arne Slot has a decision to make.
If Gomez can start, then I'd have him for the first 45 to 60 minutes and then either switch it Bradley or move Dominik Szoboszlai to the right side of the defense.
Szoboszlai isn't ideally suited to that position, but he might be the best option (and Ryan Gravenberch can fill his central role in the middle of midfield).
