Danny Mills believes that Leeds United will release Patrick Bamford and let him leave the club for free this summer.
Daniel Farke told Bamford last month that he is "not part" of his plans for the 2025/26 season and can leave the club this summer. The German added thatstriker will have to train with the Under 21s if he doesn't depart.
While there has been some interest in the 31-year-old - with Wrexham and Coventry City among those linked - Bamford is still at Elland Road with less than a week to go until the summer transfer window closes.
Bamford scored for the club's Under 21s against Norwegian side Lyn 1896 earlier this month and is working hard in an attempt to secure a move, with Farke not including him in his 20-man squad to face Everton or Arsenal.
With Bamford taking home a reported £70,000 per-week, there is a pressure to get him off the wage bill as he is not contributing to the first-team and Farke doesn't want him for the remainder of the Premier League season.
Now, ex-Leeds defender Mills has made a prediction that Leeds will terminate Bamford's contract in order to let him leave the club as a free agent. Speaking to TeamTalk, Mills said: "I guess Leeds will let Patrick go for nothing – just to get him off the wage bill. Is he going to play this season? Probably not is the answer.

"Leeds will be thinking 'if he sits on his contract and stays then we're paying him anyhow, but if we can find a taker for him then he's off the wage bill'," Mills added. "For the sake of his career, he needs to play.
"Leeds have shown their intentions this season by signing two new strikers and with Daniel Farke having come out and said Bamford is not in his plans," Mills continued, reminding fans of Farke's comments.
Leeds have signed two strikers and let one go during the summer transfer window so far. Lukas Nmecha, who scored the winner against Everton last Monday, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have arrived through the Elland Road doors, while Mateo Joseph has left the club to sign for La Liga side Mallorca on loan.
Elsewhere, Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Sean Longstaff, Lucas Perri, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor are the others that Leeds have signed, with their spending reaching in excess of £90million.
