TBR Football understands that Wolves are demanding close to £70 million, ‘Matheus Cunha money’, to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen to Newcastle United.
Wolverhampton Wanderers sources have confirmed a £50 million offer has been received from Eddie Howe’s team and rejected.
Larsen arrived on a permanent deal in the summer for around £25 million, and the Tyneside club have offered them a quick chance to double their money.
However, TBR Football has been told that Wolves are not looking to sell, but an offer similar to what they bagged from Manchester United for Matheus Cunha, namely £68m, would be enough to convince them to sell.

Sources: Newcastle unwilling to match Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen asking price
As it stands, sources are telling TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, that Newcastle United have little ambition to make such an offer.
As well as still being interested in Yoane Wissa, Newcastle are working hard on bringing in a second striker.
The likes of Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins are Newcastle targets, and they have been offered Conrad Harder by intermediaries.
TBR Football can also confirm that Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth and Roma’s Artem Dovbyk have been assessed by Newcastle, with both players available going to the final week of the window.
Speaking about the striker situation at St James’ Park, Bailey told TBR Football: “Whilst Newcastle insist that Alexander Isak is not available, they are still doing all they can to bring in two strikers. They retain hope that Wissa comes in, but even that is now uncertain.
“Larsen is a player they have done a lot of work on in recent weeks and they have tested the water – but it’s going to take a huge bid to get him this summer. We’re told it would be ‘Matheus Cunha type money’ for them to even think about a deal.
“I can also confirm that other options, even this late in the window, are presenting themselves to Newcastle. This includes the likes of Sorloth and Dovbyk, both good players and potential options that are being looked at.
“But there are others, and the next week is going to be huge for Newcastle, especially if, as we expect, Liverpool return with a fresh bid for Isak.”
