Leeds United discovered how tough life will be in the Premier League after their game against Arsenal. The game was a heavy reminder about the gap in quality at this level.
Despite their impressive performance in the opener against Everton, the game against the Gunners was a whole different experience. While Leeds did well and dominated the Toffees in stretches, they did not find the same joy against Arsenal. Daniel Farke says he was happy the team held on for the first half hour, but then the Gunners scored from a set piece. A second goal went in before half time, and Leeds never recovered from that.

Leeds face Newcastle in their next Premier League game. But before that, they face Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night. The Whites will be without Ethan Ampadu, and possibly Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is still lacking match fitness.
Ahead of the game, Daniel Farke has said that he will rotate his team on Tuesday, but will do it in a sensible manner.
“I think it’s important that I take the cup competition seriously otherwise we wouldn’t travel there,”
“We want of course to progress into the next round but it’s also fair to say that the priority is definitely also the Premier League and survival in the Premier League so we won’t do anything stupid.
“We won’t risk one player if there is an injury doubt or a doubt in terms of load.
“And we also have a few players who desperately need a bit of game time right now after two game days where they have perhaps not been that much in the spotlight.
“Also for the new signings it’s perhaps also a chance to get used to everything.
Farke says he is doing this with an eye on the Newcastle game this week.
“The clear target is we want to go into the next round but you can expect then also a few more rotations than we perhaps normally would do.
“I’m a big fan of just two or three rotations but perhaps in this game I think we will perhaps rotate a little bit more, also to make sure that players get up to speed with their fitness level to be ready also then for the Premier League.”
