Brian St. Pierre knew early. There was a tall, lanky kid -- and he was a kid in the truest sense -- at one of the camps he ran at Danvers (Mass.) St. John's Prep.
Pierre, a former quarterback at Boston College and in the NFL, figures Christopher Vargas was 11 or so years old.
"He stood out," Pierre said. "He was already tall. He could already throw it at a high school level at 10 or 11."
