Derby County will travel to Turf Moor for Carabao Cup Round Two as they face Premier League Burnley on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
Penalty shoot-out success against West Bromwich Albion earlier in August saw the Rams progress through the competition, with Joe Ward’s late equalising free-kick taking the game to spot kicks, with Josh Vickers playing an instrumental role.
Head Coach Joh Eustace’s side gained their first point on the board in the 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bristol City on Saturday and will be looking to carry on building momentum when they head to Turf Moor.
Ticket Information
Tickets for the Rams’ Carabao Cup trip to Lancashire will be on sale from the Derby County Ticket Office until 2pm on matchday.

The Opposition
Burnley’s promotion back to the Premier League last season was their fifth ascension to the top-flight in just over 15 years.
The Clarets first entered the Premier League for a single season in 2009/10, following promotion via the play-offs under the tutelage of Manager Owen Coyle in the previous campaign – their first time in the top-flight of English football in over 30 years.
Their next return to the big time was also over in a single season, after Sean Dyche secured automatic promotion as Championship runners-up in 2013/14.
This time, they bounced straight back up to the Premier League as champions with Dyche at the helm. They remained at the top level for five seasons in the club’s most successful period in their modern history – including qualifying for the UEFA Europa League with a seventh-place finish in 2016/17.
Their relegation in 2021/22 saw an impressive promotion run the season after, with an immediate return under Head Coach Vincent Kompany.
But the Premier League level proved too much, and a 19th-place finish spelt Championship football once again – with Kompany departing to take on the Head Coach role at German giants Bayern Munich.
Scott Parker was the man tasked with orchestrating the Clarets’ mission to bounce back in one season.
He achieved this with remarkable success, built on the foundations of defensive solidity as they came second, with Leeds United going up in first place via goal difference alone.
Burnley captured 100 points, winning 28 games and losing just twice, with the best defensive record in the league, conceding only 16 times - their nearest competitors in this feat, Leeds, saw double the number of goals against them.
Parker will be hoping that defensive steel can translate into Premier League longevity as they take to the top-flight once again this season.
Just two games into the new season, the Clarets have picked up three points, with a 2-0 win against Sunderland on Saturday getting them off the mark, after a 3-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on opening day.
Club Links
Head Coach John Eustace saw the value in experienced heads among the group in the Rams’ successful end-of-season run-in that saw them successfully secure their Championship status in 2024/25.
Part of this saw two former Burnley men come through the door to offer their experience to the squad, with Jeff Hendrick and Erik Pieters signing on deals that ran until the end of the season.
Hendrick’s move to Pride Park spelt a return for the Derby Academy graduate after an eight-and-a-half-year absence from the Rams.
Hendrick made 214 appearances in all competitions for Derby from the end of the 2010/11 campaign to the start of the 2016/17 season. The midfielder joined Burnley and racked up 147 appearances in the Premier League for the Clarets and then Newcastle United over the next six seasons.
Though he didn’t make an appearance in his second Derby spell, his presence around the training ground was an integral part of Eustace’s squad’s success.
Dutch defender Pieters, a Premier League stalwart, spent six seasons on the books of Stoke City before joining the Clarets in 2019.
He made 66 appearances for the Lancashire club before leaving for a three-season stint in the second tier with West Bromwich Albion.
Following a short period with Luton Town at the start of the 2024/25 season, Pieters joined Derby towards the end of the campaign as part of the training group, making one appearance in the league.
37-year-old Pieters also formally left the Rams’ squad following last season, though the Dutch defender continued to offer his experience around Moor Farm over pre-season as he kept up his fitness with the Rams.
