Tonight is the night. We are finally back in competitive action at St James’ Park after a three months wait since that final day defeat to Everton back in May.
A lot has happened since then, but we now have the chance to cut out the noise and respond with a big atmosphere and even bigger performance against Liverpool.
There are so many subplots and the desire to win has only been strengthened by Alexander Isak’s antics to try and force a move to tonight’s opponents. However, we can only do one thing; sing our hearts out to support the lads and intimidate a Liverpool side who’ll be heading into the lion’s den come 8pm!
Wor Flags have a big display planned, and have released his pre-match message to fans heading to the match:
In a statement on X, they said: _“Back at St James’ Park, and under the lights too! Not much needs saying on the atmosphere, we know what to do, right from the off, behind the lads in black and white!_
_“There is displays in both the Gallowgate and the Leazes, and your help is greatly appreciated! The Gallowgate is swarmed with flags, if you have one on your seat or if you see one on a walkway, please get it going, it’ll help the display we have planned._
_“Get into them Newcastle! HOWAY THE LADS!”_
We were the 12th man at Wembley in our last meeting with Arne Slot’s side and we can be that once again tonight.
We may have no recognised striker starting, but if supporters can inspire our lads to another big performance, we have every chance of getting one over a Liverpool who have struggled to match our intensity and physicality in our last two meetings.
Howay the lads!
