Newcastle United welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park for a mammoth Premier League fixture.
Wor Flags have urged Newcastle United players to “get into them” while rallying the supporters ahead of tonight’s game.
Liverpool travel to St James’ Park tonight having not lost on Tyneside since December 2015. Gini Wijnaldum bagged a brace in a 2-0 win under Steve McClaren almost 10 years ago before ultimately joining the Reds six months later.
Newcastle’s only win over Liverpool since came in March’s cup final at Wembley. Ironically, Alexander Isak, the man who bagged the second that day, is now repeating Wijnaldum’s trick by angling for a Liverpool exit.
Alexander Isak transfer saga
Isak has not kicked a ball for the Magpies since May after downing tools in pre-season. He continues to train alone and broke his silence with a bombshell statement last Tuesday.
With each passing day, the chances of Isak moving to Liverpool fade further. In a counter statement, Newcastle announced they “do not foresee” conditions of a potential sale being met.
Unsurprisingly, the Isak saga is dominating the pre-match build-up ahead of tonight’s game. Anthony Gordon once again is expected to lead the Toon frontline in his absence.
Wor Flags battle cry
Back at St James’ Park, and under the lights too!
Not much needs saying on the atmosphere, we know what to do, right from the off, behind the lads in black and white!

Wor Flags took to social media to rally the troops before what is guaranteed to be a mouth-watering occasion on Tyneside. The group wrote: “Back at St James’ Park, and under the lights too! Not much needs saying on the atmosphere. We know what to do, right from the off, behind the lads in black and white!
“Get into them Newcastle! HOWAY THE LADS! There are displays in both the Gallowgate and the Leazes, and your help is greatly appreciated! The Gallowgate is swarmed with flags, if you have one on your seat or if you see one on a walkway, please get it going, it’ll help the display we have planned.”

Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak saga
Responding about the possibility of losing Isak without a suitable replacement, Howe told reporters: “I don’t think the club will allow that situation to happen. We certainly can’t go through the season with no recognised striker at the football club - and that’s no disrespect to Will Osula.
“I think he’s doing really well and he’s progressing really well, but he’s got limited experience in the Premier League, although I’m really happy with his career progression. But Alex at the moment would be the only striker we have with Premier League history of goals and appearances and starts, so we can’t leave ourselves in that position.”
