Eagles end Kenyon Green experiment the only way fans knew it would

The Kenyon Green era is already over before it even started as the Philadelphia Eagles made the move fans expected them to.

CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported the Eagles are waiving Green after the team traded for him as part of the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade with the Houston Texans back in March.

Green has only played in 27 games entering his fourth season with the team. A shoulder injury forced him to miss the entire 2023 season for Houston.

A predictable outcome for Green after a tough training camp

Green never really stood a chance to make the 53-man roster on the Eagles. Philly only took him on to take a chance on building depth on the offensive line while offloading Gardner-Johnson's contract.

From the moment Green started participating in offseason workouts with the Eagles, Green was never in contention to start as some thought he might be brought in to compete for the right guard job and rejuvenate his career the way it helped Mekhi Becton. That was the opposite of what happened.

Green was actually playing at left guard and was the third string for a good portion of camp. Landon Dickerson's injury moved Green up to second string, but still caused the Eagles to have Brett Toth ahead of him. Green also got hurt during preseason and missed some time which could have been seen as the nail in the coffin for him.

It doesn't help that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was busy on Sunday making multiple moves with the offensive line. Roseman traded with the Jacksonville Jaguars to get Fred Johnson back on the team. Offensive tackle Darian Kinnard was traded from the Eagles, as he will be heading to the Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles are serious about getting their offensive in the right spot and unfortunately for Green, he just never got to where the team needed him to be.
