The Washington Commanders have officially completed training camp and will transition into the next stage. The front office must trim its roster from 90 players to finalize the 53-man roster by Tuesday. After that, the Commanders’ focus will shift to their Week 1 opponent, the New York Giants.
With roster cuts and Week 1 looming, all eyes were on whether they would reach an agreement with their No. 1 receiver.

Terry McLaurin has been actively seeking a contract extension since the offseason, targeting $33 million per year in a deal similar to DK Metcalf. He held out of mandatory minicamp, opened training camp on the PUP list with an ankle injury, and even requested a trade in late July. The Commanders activated McLaurin in mid-August, but he has conducted a hold-in to avoid massive fines.

According to Adam Schefter, the Commanders and Terry McLaurin have agreed to a lucrative contract extension worth a few million less than DK Metcalf’s. The deal is for three years and is worth up to $96 million, per his agents Buddy Baker and Tony Bonagura. His maximum $32 million-per-year value makes him the sixth-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL, according to Over The Cap.
