'Close to agreement': Wolves striker now nearing exit, talks over deal structure taking place - …

There is one week to go in the transfer window and Fabio Silva remains a Wolves player.

There have been many outgoings this summer at Molineux, but perhaps surprisingly, Fabio Silva is still on the books.

But the player has not been short of interest.

After a good season over in Spain with Las Palmas, plenty of clubs have been looking at the Portuguese striker.

But Wolves have been determined to fetch the highest possible price for Silva, and in recent weeks Borussia Dortmund have been the team to take the initiative.

Dortmund had reportedly abandoned their interest in Silva recently, but then came back in for the player – and now, there could be some movement.

David Ornstein has today given an update on Fabio Silva, who has been adamant about leaving Wolves this summer, as have the club.

He has said on X: “Borussia Dortmund close to agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Fabio Silva. Proposed move worth in region of €25m.

Talks continue between clubs on structure/bonuses as #BVB aim to secure 23yo #WWFC & Portugal international striker. @TheAthleticFC.”

Molineux News was informed earlier this summer that the Bundesliga was likely to be Silva’s next destination after Wolves.

And seemingly this could now come to pass, and Dortmund certainly know how to develop strikers, which may be part of the lure for Silva.

Silva is also keen for European football, with Dortmund obviously in the Champions League.

Fabio Silva will likely flourish away from Wolves

So it looks like Silva’s stint at Wolves is just days away from ending.

He is a player who has been much maligned, given how little he’s delivered in the old gold shirt after costing so much money.

But at times some of that criticism has been harsh. He never picked the fee he moved for, and he was clearly not ready to move when he did.

Silva even admitted he never truly wanted to move to Wolves in the first place, suggesting the money involved in the deal for Porto was the catalyst.

Silva has struggled at Molineux, but there have been signs while he’s been out on loan to suggest there is a player there.

For Las Palmas, Rangers, PSV Eindhoven and Anderlecht, he’s scored a combined 32 goals in 101 games.

That’s not a bad record for someone dealing with upheaval, and a move to Dortmund could actually really suit him, as it has done several other strikers in recent years.
