Newcastle United are at St James’ Park for the first time this season tonight (Monday) as they take on Liverpool in the Premier League in what looks set to be a memorable atmosphere.
The Magpies will look to build on a point that they took from the Premier League opener against Aston Villa last weekend, with Liverpool kicking off their campaign with a 4-2 home win against AFC Bournemouth.
The backdrop to the game is the current transfer saga surrounding Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. While the player won’t be involved in the game, he has been at the centre of a lot of talk ahead of the clash.
The Sweden international has made it clear that he wants to leave Newcastle to join Liverpool this summer, but the club are staying firm in their stance. Earlier this summer they turned down a £110 million bid from the Reds.
