Bundesliga star keen to join Arsenal

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table after a resounding 5-0 victory against Leeds United on Saturday.

Viktor Gyokeres netted his first two goals for the club at The Emirates, while Jurrien Timber also scored twice and Bukayo Saka was on target.

The result moved the Gunners top of the pile in the top flight, although reigning champions Liverpool could move to the summit with a sizeable victory against Newcastle United on Monday evening.

In the meantime, it has emerged that one of the most highly rated defenders in the Bundesliga is keen to join Arteta’s squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie is keen on the idea of a move to Arsenal.

The Italian journalist claims that the centre-back finds the project pitched to him by Arsenal very attractive.

While talks between Arsenal and the player are still at a ver early stage, Romano claims that an agreement on personal terms isn’t expected to be an issue.

Hincapie, 23, joined Leverkusen from Argentinian side CA Talleres back in 2021 and has since played more than 160 times for the German outfit across all competitions.

He played a key role as they won the Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso in 2024, but Romano suggests that he could depart Leverkusen before the end of the current transfer window.

While Arsenal are interested in the defender, it is claimed that the Gunners are currently focussing on offloading both Jalub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Hincapie is contracted to Leverkusen until the end of the 2028/29 season, but it appears that Arsenal may soon attempt to lure him to London with an official offer.

The Ecuador international is capable of playing either as a central defender or al left-back, which could make him a good replacement for Jakub Kiwior who is expected to join Portuguese side Porto.
