An NFC East rival of the Philadelphia Eagles has locked down one of its best players.
Terry McLaurin, the Washington Commanders’ star wide receiver, has finally reached an agreement with the Eagles’ NFC East foe, signing a massive contract extension.
McLaurin inked a three-year extension with the Commanders worth up to $96 million, according to a Monday report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
McLaurin will end his hold-in and suit up for Washington’s season opener against the Giants.
Whether or not McLaurin would play for the Commanders this year was a significant storyline throughout the preseason. The 29-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, earning a second-team All-Pro nod and helping Washington to the NFC championship game.
McLaurin thrived alongside rookie sensation quarterback Jayden Daniels, recording 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. It was McLaurin’s fifth 1,000-yard season in six years.
McLaurin has consistently played well against the Eagles. In 12 career games vs. Philadelphia, the former Ohio State standout has 64 catches for 917 yards and six touchdowns.
McLaurin had a 36-yard touchdown in last season’s NFC title game at Lincoln Financial Field. But ultimately, it didn’t matter much as the Eagles demolished Washington, 55-23.
The Eagles will face McLaurin twice in a three-week stretch to close the season. Philadelphia will travel to Washington on Dec. 20 and will host the Commanders on Jan. 4.
