Leeds United are eager to add to their squad before the summer transfer window shuts, with Dilane Bakwa recently emerging as a target.
Leeds were said to be leading the race for Bakwa over the weekend, with the 49ers prepared to match Strasbourg’s valuation of around £30million.
Bakwa has two years remaining on his Strasbourg contract and now looks certain to be on his way out of the French club.
However, it may well be that 22-year-old Bakwa ends up at Leeds‘ Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest instead.

Nottingham Forest in talks to sign Dilane Bakwa
Strasbourg would like to delay selling Bakwa until after their UEFA Conference League playoff tie with Brondby IF on Thursday.

However, Forest are now in talks to sign the talented forward after matching the French side’s valuation.
That is according to Sacha Tavolieri, who reported via X on 25 August that Forest’s bid is made up of around £23.8m upfront and the rest in add-ons.
While a deal is not officially done, it is now looking increasingly likely that Forest will beat Leeds to this signing.

That would be a blow to Daniel Farke, who is eager to make more additions before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.
Transfer state of play at Elland Road
With exactly one week of the window left to run, it is looking likely that the next piece of confirmed business will be a player leaving rather than arriving.
Largie Ramazani looks set to join Valencia on loan, albeit with that agreement not containing an option to make the move permanent next summer.
That is after a deal to bring Leicester City defender James Justin to Elland Road was announced on Monday.
It now seems as though Bakwa is off the list of possible targets, so it will be back to the drawing board for the 49ers.
