If you needed any further proof about what veteran Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin means to the Washington Commanders locker room, look no further than the reactions from teammates after his massive contract extension was officially confirmed.
After months of stalemate, drama, and everything in between, the Commanders and McLaurin finally resolved their differences with a three-year, $96 million deal that ties the player to Washington for what could be the remainder of his career. This was the best possible outcome for all involved, and head coach Dan Quinn will be relieved to finally focus on football moving forward.
McLaurin's teammates always had his back. They understood that this was just business, and nobody would begrudge the former third-round pick another financial commitment. He's given absolutely everything to the cause and toiled through some difficult times. Now everything is pointing up, so having him secure and happy is only going to help the Commanders' cause.
Commanders teammates rejoice on social media after Terry McLaurin extension
It didn't take long for reactions to come on social media from McLaurin's teammates. Everyone from Deebo Samuel Sr. to Frankie Luvu and Luke McCaffrey chimed in with widespread approval. They know how integral the Ohio State product is to their playoff hopes. They also know how much the drawn-out affair has taken a toll on everyone involved.

This represents another sign of how revered McLaurin is on and off the field. Adam Peters was rightfully protecting the organization's best interests, but there was never a danger of the wideout being traded. The Commanders aren't being run like that anymore, and the new deal is another example of how the tide has turned for the better.
McLaurin faces a race against time to get into genuine football shape. Not practicing for months was the stance he took, but now is the time to get back to work. Nobody will be more committed, and his presence on the practice field is going to give everybody a massive lift at a crucial stage of the team's preparations.
The Commanders are a better team when McLaurin is out there. The locker room is more vibrant when he's leading from the front. He's been sorely missed, judging by the outpouring of euphoric relief once the extension became public knowledge. And everyone associated with the franchise can now successfully turn the page on this soap opera for good.
That's a win-win for everybody.
