Simi Fehoko showed out in the preseason, hoping to earn a roster spot

The Arizona Cardinals brought in Simi Fehoko out of free agency this offseason on a one-year deal, and the fifth-year wide receiver has shown the organization that he can be a valuable asset for the 2025 season.

Fehoko spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, after two years with the Dallas Cowboys. Over the first three seasons of his career, the 27-year-old struggled to find consistent playing time, but carved out a role for himself in 2024, tallying 106 receiving yards.

In college, Fehoko played for a different Cardinal at Stanford University, finishing his junior season averaging 95.7 receiving yards per game. Coming over to Arizona, the wideout has become increasingly more comfortable in his new home.

“It’s a little hotter here in Arizona, but I’ve loved it,” Fehoko said. “… It’s been good, like, the atmosphere of the team, with the coaches all the way down to the players. It’s awesome to be a part of, and I’m excited.”

Fehoko Showed His Team He’s Here to Stay

After a solid training camp, Fehoko put his skills on display during the final two games of the Cardinals’ preseason. The 27-year-old caught a touchdown in both games, while contributing on special teams as well.

His success in the preseason caught the attention of the coaching staff, including head coach Jonathan Gannon, who has been impressed with how Fehoko has continued to develop and learn the system.

“[Fehoko’s] done a great job in camp, and he missed about a week there. He didn’t play in the first preseason game,” Gannon said. “He’s been awesome, man. You know, he can play all three spots. He makes plays in practice, catches the ball… He had a hell of a camp and a preseason.”

With his pair of touchdowns, it’s easy to see that Fehoko has built a rapport with his new quarterback room, while gaining an understanding of the new offensive scheme he finds himself in.

Fehoko Makes a Ton of Sense on the 53-Man Roster

With the top three wide receivers all but solidified in Arizona, there is an opening down the depth chart to be a rotational piece for Fehoko. His 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame can be used in a multitude of ways, which should give him a solid chance to make the squad.

Being a versatile player who can fill multiple roles is something for teams to keep in mind when deciding who to keep on the roster, and Fehoko has continued to embrace whatever role he can play to help his team.

Special teams is something Fehoko is still learning, but with the knowledge that it helps his chances, he’s been eager to improve. His team-first mindset should be something that the Cardinals keep in mind as the time to get down to 53 players looms.

“Initially, in college, I wasn’t one of those guys that’s like, ‘I want to run down and kick off and make a tackle,’” Fehoko said. “That’s just not something I viewed myself as. And then slowly, as I’ve spent time in the league, I realized, you know, however you can add value to a team, whatever you can bring, that’s how you’ll see the field.”

“For me, I like competition, and I like to compete. So, however I’m going to see the field, that’s what I’ll do.”
