Wolves have rejected Newcastle's opening £50m bid for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
On the eve of Newcastle's opening home game of the season and showdown with Liverpool, it's been announced that Wolves has rejected Newcastle's opening bid for Norwegian star, Strand Larsen.
The West Midlands club values Strand Larsen highly and has told the Magpies the Norwegian, who scored 14 goals last season, is not for sale at any price during the current transfer window.
He only completed a £23m permanent move to Molineux last month after spending the past season on loan from Celta Vigo.
Wolves are desperate to keep Strand Larsen due to a lack of depth up front, after already allowing Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha to depart for Manchester United this summer.
Strand Larsen, 25, has emerged as a major target for Newcastle after an approach to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford was also rebuffed.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has been trying to sign a new striker to replace Callum Wilson, whose contract expired at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Their need for a centre forward has also been exacerbated by a long-running stand-off with Alexander Isak, who has been unsettled since news of interest from Liverpool emerged during pre-season.
The Sweden international has not been involved with the first team since Newcastle rejected a £110million offer from the Anfield outfit more than three weeks ago.
