Ruben Amorim told ‘worry’ over something Man Utd star did vs Fulham, Wayne Rooney saw it happen ‘every’ time

Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney has warned Ruben Amorim about one player’s telling performance against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The Red Devils had to settle for a Premier League point against Marco Silva’s men in their first away match in the 2025-26 Premier League season.

Manchester United and Fulham played a 0-0 scoreline in the first half, with Bruno Fernandes missing a crucial penalty after sending his effort straight over the bar.

But United would take the lead at Craven Cottage after the break, with Rodrigo Muniz putting the ball in his own net after his deflection from Leny Yoro’s header.

The Red Devils were livelier in the first half with their attacking threat before their advantage over Marco Silva’s side disappeared late into the second half of the tie.

Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench and cancelled out United’s opener over Fulham, with Altay Bayindir unable to prevent the all-important equaliser on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney sends a clear-cut message to Ruben Amorim about Altay Bayindir after the Man Utd star’s performance vs Fulham

Ruben Amorim stuck with Altay Bayindir for Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw after the Manchester United star’s mistake in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Bayindir played his part in United’s opening Premier League loss to Arsenal after he palmed the ball to Riccardo Calafiori for the winner following a Declan Rice corner.

Speaking after the Premier League match at Craven Cottage, Wayne Rooney insisted that Turkey international Bayindir was a serious “worry” every time for a corner.

When asked how he would deal with United if he were the manager, he told BBC Sport’s The Wayne Rooney Show: “I don’t know. My track record isn’t great as well, so I don’t know.

“Listen, I think the first thing you’d want to do is say, right, we need to be hard to beat. That’s the first thing.

“Let’s be hard to beat. Let’s be hard to, you know, concede chances against. And today again I think the goalkeeper [Bayindir] off [of] every corner you worry when the ball goes in the box.”

Wayne Rooney tells Man Utd to study one Premier League team after their mixed start to the 2025-26 season

United legend Rooney singled out Tottenham’s start to the new Premier League season under manager Thomas Frank as a key template for the Red Devils to study.

Thomas Frank arrived at Spurs in the summer after he left Brentford and the former Bees boss replaced Ange Postecoglou as head coach at the Premier League club.

When discussing United after the Fulham result, Rooney said: “But I think you just have to say let’s do the basics right and I’m sure we’ll get on to Tottenham in a bit.

“But Tottenham have started the season well because they’ve got the basics right and I think that’s the first thing as a manager you really need to try and make sure you fix.”

United are 16th after their opening two Premier League matches and their next league outing will be at Old Trafford against Burnley on Saturday.
