Knicks trade pitch sends Josh Hart out West for 22.0-Ppg scorer

On paper, the New York Knicks should have an opportunity to win a championship next season. The Knicks were very close to accomplishing that last year, but fell short in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The next step for the Knicks will be making it to the NBA Finals, looking to accomplish something they haven't in a very long time.

In order for that to happen, the Knicks might have to make some tough decisions, and a recent trade proposal from Sports Illustrated’s Ryan Shea would see them do just that.

Will Josh Hart leave New York?

His trade proposal would move on from Josh Hart in a deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

Knicks receive: Keldon Johnson

Spurs receive: Josh Hart

“The last New York Knicks title was in 1973. The fans are hungry. All Knicks fans and even NBA fans can admit the Nova Knicks Era was cool, but it still seems like the Knicks are missing pieces necessary in order to truly compete for a title.

“To truly contend, the Knicks may need to part with one of the fan base's beloved players, Josh Hart. In this deal, they get a true 3 and D player in Keldon Johnson, who gives the Knicks a clear boost on the offensive end. He slots right into the Knicks' starting lineup alongside Karl Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson, Og Anuoby, and Mikal Bridges and joins the chase for the Knicks' 3rd NBA championship,” [he wrote](https://www.si.com/onsi/fantasy/nba/nba-mock-trade-knicks-deal-josh-hart-spurs-keldon-johnson).

Getting Keldon Johnson in return for Hart would be intriguing, given he's only 25 years old, but he isn't exactly the perfect player for the Knicks.

Throughout the earlier stages of his career, he proved that he can score 20-plus a night, but that doesn't mean he's the best fit for what the Knicks are looking for.

While Hart certainly has his problems as a player, he also does a lot of little things on the court that help teams win.

The Knicks need players like that.
