Jaguars find an easy fix to WR conundrum in Si's 53-man roster projection

The Jacksonville Jaguars have done a lot of work to give Trevor Lawrence more offensive weapons, but there is still a crucial need for more depth - particularly at wide receiver. There has been some good work done in the offseason, off course.

Signing Dyami Brown turned out to be a step in the right direction, despite initially seeming like a less-than-stellar pick following an underwhelming career until now. There's also Parker Washington and Brian Thomas, Jr., all playing alongside Travis Hunter - the draft pick that stunned the league after the Jaguars were able to nab him.

But it's just not enough. The Jaguars desperately need more, and preferably someone reliable enough to be able to step in should one of their main four starters be injured. The answer could end up being a familiar face - one the Jaguars let go a few years ago.

Jacksonville should consider bringing back DJ Chark Jr.

Chark was initially signed by the Jaguars in 2018, and seemed promising at first, even making the Pro Bowl in 2019. But injuries began to slow him down, and he was ultimately released, landing with the Detroit Lions. There, he ended up becoming a star receiver, further illustrating the potential he had.

He landed with the Carolina Panthers in 2023, where he seriously regressed, and moved on to the Los Angeles Chargers after that, where he didn't make much of a name for himself. This summer, the Atlanta Falcons gave him a shot, but released him just weeks later.

It's true that Chark has struggled since leaving Jacksonville, but the Jags don't need another immediate starter. Chark could be brought on to add some security, in case one of the main four get hurt, and in the meantime, Liam Coen - being the offensive wizard that he is - could potentially help bring that potential we saw earlier in his career back out.

After all, let's remember that Chark's downfall began as Doug Marrone began to get worse, too, and then reached its peak under the Urban Meyer debacle era. Could Coen - and new offensive coordinator Grant Udinski as well - make a difference?

Signing Chark again is a long shot, but something needs to be done at wide receiver. But giving him a shot may not be the worst idea; he's a free agent, and with his background, he'll probably be cheap. Why not give him another chance?
