Liverpool opened this season with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth in its first match last weekend. Four different players scored a goal for Liverpool, with Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo putting the side up 2-0 before Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo broke through with two goals to tie the contest.
But Liverpool wouldn't be denied. An 88th-minute goal from Federico Chiesa put the club in front, then Mo Salah scored in stoppage time to bring about the final scoreline.
Newcastle United's season debut wasn't quite as eventful, as the club drew 0-0 with Aston Villa despite Newcastle playing the final 24 minutes of the match with a man advantage. Newcastle controlled the match in every way but the scoreboard, though, with a 16-3 advantage in total shots. Newcastle had the ball for 61 percent of the contest.
Newcastle hasn't defeated Liverpool in an EPL contest since 2015, with Liverpool posting 12 wins in the past 17 matches with five draws.
