The Dallas Cowboys' situation with former Penn State star Micah Parsons is only getting worse, with Parsons now lying down during the Cowboys’ final preseason game.
There is no reason to blame Parsons for this situation, as Jerry Jones just hasn't done what he's needed to do.
With the Cowboys' preseason games now complete and a Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles looming on Sept. 4, questions remain about whether Parsons will be ready to go on Thursday Night Football.
Will Micah Parsons play Week 1?
-------------------------------
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Cowboys still believe that Parsons will be there to play in Week 1, and they could get a long-term deal done before then.
“They’re trying to stay optimistic, despite all the posturing all the game playing with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys,” [Fowler said](https://www.on3.com/pro/news/micah-parsons-update-nfl-insider-updates-chances-of-trade-cowboys-star-playing-in-week-1/) on SportsCenter, per On3. “Dallas still feels like Micah Parsons is getting himself ready to play Week 1, and that there’s still a chance that they can find a long-term deal extension somewhere, despite the lack of real substantial contract talks."

Fowler later added that these types of situations aren't uncommon around the NFL, which he’s right about, but this feels a bit different.
“They believe that closer to 10 to 12 days in, they can figure something out. One source equated it to Nick Bosa a couple years ago with San Francisco. He signed like four days before Week 1 kickoff. They got a deal done. Sometimes these things are ugly. They take turns. Now meanwhile, Dallas has gotten multiple inquiries from teams of potential Micah Parsons trade. There is definitely interest. They’re not really entertaining it though. They want Micah Parsons in uniform. Does he want to be in uniform as well?”
It's clear that Parsons believes he deserves to get paid the type of money he's looking for, and that’s tough to deny.
Ever since his Penn State days, there's a strong argument to be made that he's been the top edge rusher in the world, if not the top.
