Reports have indicated that multiple teams around the NBA are interested in trading for New Orleans Pelicans young star Trey Murphy III.
Murphy has continued to prove over the past few years that he's only getting better, and on a contending team like the Golden State Warriors, he could be the missing piece. Throughout the 2024-25 campaign, he was better than ever, appearing in 53 games and playing 35.0 minutes per night. He averaged 21.2 points and shot 36.1% from 3-point range and 45.4% from the field.
There are a few issues in landing Murphy from the Warriors' perspective, but being a 25-year-old with a ton of upside is the main one.
Could Warriors go all in on a player?

Despite that, Peter O'Keefe of Blue Man Hoops recently proposed an intriguing trade idea between four teams, which would send Murphy to the Warriors.
Golden State Warriors receive: Trey Murphy III
New Orleans Pelicans receive: Moses Moody, Nick Richards, Haywood Highsmith, 2026, 2028, 2032 first-round picks (from Warriors)
Phoenix Suns receive: Jonathan Kuminga
Brooklyn Nets receive: Grayson Allen, 2027 first-round pick (from Suns tied to UTAH, CLE or MIN), 2026 second-round pick (from Suns tied to OKC, DAL or PHI) and 2030 second-round pick (from Pelicans)

“As for Golden State, this would be the definition of going all-in to try and win another title in the Stephen Curry era. This may seem like a lot and perhaps too much for a player who's never made an All-Star team, but the beauty of a 25-year-old trade target means you give yourself some insurance against a hopeless future once Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green retire,” [he wrote](https://bluemanhoop.com/blockbuster-4-team-mock-trade-has-warriors-pay-steep-price-trey-murphy-iii).
There are a lot of moving parts in this trade, so it might not be easy for the Warriors to get everyone to accept it.
However, if they only have to move on for Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, and picks, this is the type of deal that Golden State should look to make.
