The Buffalo Bills will open their 2025 season against the Baltimore Ravens in less than two weeks. When Buffalo takes the field, there will be a few new faces on the defense. One being a newly signed defensive end, Joey Bosa. This past March, the Bills signed Bosa after the Los Angeles Chargers released him after nine seasons.

Buffalo Adds Pass Rusher Joey Bosa

Buffalo knew that adding Bosa could help them finally get to the Super Bowl. Usually, when the postseason comes around, the Bills have a hard time getting after the quarterback. During last season’s AFC Championship Game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to pick apart the Bills’ defense. There wasn’t enough pass rush for the Bills to get home to Mahomes, causing Buffalo to lose the game.

Bosa is supposed to come in and fix the pass rush. The Bills have almost everything going well for them on offense, but the defense still has questions. The secondary has been picked apart in the preseason. Buffalo should try to find another secondary piece before their first regular-season game. But with the limited number of players available in free agency or the open market, adding another player to get after the quarterback could be the way to go.

Currently, two outstanding pass rushers are asking to be traded from their teams. Cincinnati Bengals Trey Hendrickson and Dallas Cowboys Micah Parsons. Both players are unhappy with their current contracts and would like to be moved. The Bills saw the same thing happen with running back James Cook this offseason. Cook was asking for a new deal and even held out of some practices in early August. However, two weeks ago, Cook agreed to a long-term deal with the team.

Bills Urged to Trade For Parsons

Parsons and Hendrickson could both return to their teams on a new deal. If they don’t, they could be traded in the next two weeks, and Jarrett Bailey from The Sporting News is urging the Bills to trade for Parsons.

“Both Micah Parsons and Trey Hendrickson are in the midst of contract battles with their respective teams. Neither Parsons nor Hendrickson have reached agreements with the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively. Considering the fact that the Bills’ biggest issue in their nearly-annual postseason loss to the Kansas City Chiefs is that they can’t get pressure on Patrick Mahomes, landing a top-tier edge rusher could be what gets them over the top. Parsons is the name I’d pay the most attention to, considering Dallas is in a different conference and things seem too far gone between player and organization,” Bailey wrote.

“Buffalo signed Joey Bosa this past offseason, and extended Greg Rousseau, but Bosa isn’t what he used to be, and his health is always a question. And while Rousseau isn’t a bad player by any means, he’s also not a game-changing pass rusher. While there would need to be cap gymnastics done to make things work, they can be done. If the Bills can land Parsons or Hendrickson, they should do whatever it takes to do so.” Bailey added.

Parsons is a four-time Pro Bowler and still super young, just 26 years old. It will take a considerable offer to add Parsons, but the Bills need all the help they can get to win the Super Bowl.
