West Ham plot last-ditch raid on Tottenham for £25 million midfielder

West Ham United are keen to explore a late move for Yves Bissouma to strengthen their midfield, with Tottenham seemingly open to solutions.

According to Football Insider, West Ham United are interested in a move for Yves Bissouma in the latter stages of the transfer window. The Tottenham boss may not view the Malian international as a key part of his plans moving forward, with the Hammers keen to strengthen their dodgy midfield before the window ends.

West Ham United played Chelsea in the Friday night kickoff at the weekend, with the Blues emerging as 5-1 reverse winners in the clash. The Hammers clearly had a glaring issue in their midfield as Enzo Maresca’s key stars in the middle overpowered Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse with relative ease.

Graham Potter does want a few key additions before the window ends, and central midfield will be an important position for him to consider. Yves Bissouma has emerged as a key target for the Hammers as the Londoners plot a last-ditch move for the Malian international.

Yves Bissouma joined Tottenham in a £25 million deal in the summer of 2022, and overall, he has been a good enough addition overall. With the arrival of Thomas Frank, the new boss has had issues with Bissouma earlier with time-keeping, among other things, and kept him out of the matchday squad for the two games so far in the Premier League.

Bissouma has had interest from Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, but the emergence of West Ham in the race could change the outcome of this transfer. Tottenham, for their part, might open the doors for Bissouma to depart the club as Frank has enough options to contend with in his midfield.

West Ham could present an offer for Yves Bissouma

West Ham were interested in Bissouma earlier in the summer, but since then, the trail had gone cold. Given the problems in their midfield, it is no surprise to see the Hammers thinking of a late move for the £25 million midfielder, who will drastically improve their squad.

Moreover, Potter knows Yves Bissouma well from their time together at Brighton, and this factor could give this transfer speculation far more importance. For now, there is no indication of Tottenham’s asking price, as there’s a possibility they will look to move on from the midfielder before the transfer window shuts.
