Barcelona Are Keeping Tabs On This La Liga Forward This Summer: Should Flick Move In For Him?

In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona are keeping tabs on Villarreal forward Karl Etta Eyong. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are eyeing a surprise move to land the Cameroonian talent in this transfer window.

Etta Eyong’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football

Etta Eyong has come through the youth ranks of Villarreal and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them in the previous campaign. The Cameroonian attacker has made six senior appearances for the Yellow Submarine thus far, scoring two times and picking up one assist in all competitions.

The 21-year-old is currently among the best young strikers in Spanish football. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona are monitoring his situation at Villarreal.

Etta Eyong’s current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2027, so the Catalan club would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting the Douala-born talent in this transfer window.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Move In For Etta Eyong?

Etta Eyong can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer the odd chance for his teammates to score in the final third.

The Cameroonian talent is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. He is already quite familiar with La Liga and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Catalan club.

Etta Eyong would be an excellent addition to Barcelona‘s La Masia academy. He would be a great signing for the Catalan giants to consider in this transfer window.

At 21, Etta Eyong has got the potential to be a future star in Spanish football. Therefore, it makes sense for Barca to move in for him before the end of this summer transfer window. However, Hansi Flick has to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of the gifted talent at the Nou Camp. With all things considered, Barcelona would be wise to get a deal over the line for Etta Eyong soon.

In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in West Ham United playmaker Lucas Paqueta this summer. It has been claimed that Spurs are eager to get a deal done for the Brazilian talent, but are facing competition from Aston Villa in pursuit of him.

Paqueta’s Unimpressive Season At West Ham

Paqueta struggled to find consistency with his performances for the Hammers in the previous campaign but put in a few impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The Brazilian talent participated in 36 matches for West Ham last season, scoring five goals in the process on all fronts.

The 27-year-old failed to impress in the final third as he averaged 1.47 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept only 7.7% of his attempts on target. Paqueta even distributed the ball well in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.3% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Paqueta’s current contract at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, Spurs would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him.

Will Paqueta Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?

Paqueta can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can chip in by scoring a few important goals for his team.

The Brazilian sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder, but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder or function as a left-winger if asked to do so by his manager. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and has what it takes to make an immediate impact at Tottenham.

We can expect Paqueta to add more quality and depth to Thomas Frank’s attack. He could even unlock the best out of his former West Ham teammate Mohammed Kudus at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

At 27, Paqueta has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Spurs to pursue in this summer transfer window.
