The Cleveland Browns made a major move in their quarterback room on Monday, and it wasn't the release of Tyler Huntley.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is [reporting](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1960131082545692774?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) that the Browns are shipping quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2026 fifth-round pick, after Vegas' backup quarterback Aidan O'Connell suffered a fractured wrist in the preseason.
Cleveland's quarterback room now consists of veteran Joe Flacco and its two rookies. Oregon's Dillon Gabriel and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.
Cleveland's QB Shakeup

After Flacco was named the Browns' Week 1 starter, there was plenty of speculation on who would serve as the backup behind him. Pickett had the most starting experience of anyone else in the quarterback room, but fans were chomping at the bit to see either of the team's new rookies get some playing time.
While Pickett was nursing an injury throughout the preseason, Gabriel and Sanders took their opportunities to show what they had, with both seeing ample amounts of snaps over the team's three preseason games.
In matchups with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams, Gabriel went 25-37, good for 272 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Oregon product displayed the accuracy that got him drafted and showcased his command at the line.
Sanders' opportunities came against the Carolina Panthers and Rams, going 17-29 for 152 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Colorado's recent Ring of Honor inductee showed some tantalizing abilities to move around in the pocket and stand tall against the rush.
Now, head coach Kevin Stefanski and company will have to decide who is next in line if the 40-year-old Flacco goes down, and who will be relegated to the third spot.
As of now, it's safe to point to Gabriel as the designated QB2 in Cleveland. Being drafted in the third round as opposed to Sanders' selection in the fifth may go to show what the Browns think of the two young signal-callers as prospects. With less than two weeks to go until Week 1, there's still time for both youngsters to make an impression in practice.
