Andoni Iraola’s men will be hoping to progress further in the Carabao Cup than last season, when they also met top flight opponents, falling to a controversial 1-0 defeat at West Ham in the second round.
The Bees are something of a bogey team for Iraola – but he’ll be hoping to end his poor record and progress to the third round.
The Daily Echo previews the League Cup clash.
**Team news**
Iraola is expecting much of the same squad to be available as for the visit of Wolves at the weekend.
That game saw Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert return to the team, as well as new signings Ben Gannon Doak and Amine Adli.

Lewis Cook and Enes Unal remain ruled out as long term absentees.
Keith Andrews will be without Vitaly Janlet and Gustavo Nunes, with Paris Maghoma, Yunus Konak and Ethan Pinnock being assessed.
Yoane Wissa may also not feature, as he looks to leave the club.
There may well be a reunion for Dango Ouattara, who joined Brentford from the Cherries earlier this summer.
**Head-to-head**
The Cherries have not beaten Brentford in any of their past six games against the London club, with their last victory coming in the first leg of the Championship playoffs in May 2021 – before they lost the second leg and on aggregate.
_(Image: Zac Goodwin/PA Wire)_ The sides played out a 2-2 draw in Iraola’s first game against the Bees, with Brentford scoring a dramatic stoppage time equaliser at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Since then, Bournemouth have lost all three encounters, including both last season. Brentford won 3-2 at home, twice coming from behind, before winning 2-1 at Dean Court – again coming from behind.
**Form**
Both sides have played two, won one and lost one so far this season.
The Cherries were beaten 4-2 on the opening day by Liverpool, before earning a good 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday, thanks to Marcus Tavernier’s early goal.
The Bees were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest in their first game of the season, before they responded with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa – former Cherry Ouattara with the only goal of the game.
AFC Bournemouth host Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, August 26, kick off at 7.45pm.
