Iraola takes aim at ending poor run vs Brentford and progressing in cup

Iraola has lost three and drawn one of his games against the Bees while [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/) boss – but after ending what was a poor home run against Wolves at the weekend, he is optimistic that that run can come to an end.

He said it was a ‘good moment’ to beat Wolves on Saturday – and Tuesday is a good moment to beat Brentford.

“I don't feel we've played bad against them,” Iraola told the Daily Echo.

“I think we've done good games but we haven't beat them. So we will have to be very good.

“We've been unlucky again, first round you expect to play against a non-Premier league team. It happened last season, this season again.

The draw sets up a reunion with Dango Ouattara, after he left Bournemouth to join Brentford for a club record fee for the London club.

Ouattara scored on his debut at the weekend to hand Keith Williams’ side their first win of the season, against Aston Villa.

“I think Dango is a great player and he's going to be a very good signing for them,” Iraola said.

“I think he can play a lot of positions but he will make the numbers also offensively. Unluckily for us we are facing him on Tuesday and I hope he doesn't have the best of his days.

“But I'm sure and I hope also he does very well and I think he deserves also to do it. And Brentford, I think they are coming from a big win.

_(Image: Zac Goodwin/PA Wire)_ “To beat Aston Villa is always very difficult. It's true that they've been defending, I've seen just the stats and probably without the ball a lot of time.

“But to finish with a clean sheet against Villa means that there is good defensive work there behind and I hope we can play better than them and obviously we can earn the right to play another game, that in the cup competition especially is the most important thing.”

Despite Ouattara coming in, Brentford have lost some key players, including Bryan Mbeumo and potentially Yoane Wissa.

Iraola said the two sides are in a similar position with big names leaving and reinforcements coming in.

“They still have very, very good players and I think the same about us,” he said.

_(Image: Zac Goodwin/PA Wire)_ “So we are coming from important wins in the weekend and we would like, both teams for sure, to keep this little bit of continuity.

“We play at home. I'm happy that we won first game at home in the league and I hope we can use this advantage.

“That is always an advantage in the draw when you play at home and go to the next phase.”

AFC Bournemouth host Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, August 26, kick off at 7.45pm.
