Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will be looking to secure his first victory of the new season as his men travel to Blundell Park for an EFL Cup clash with Grimsby Town.
The Red Devils are expected to rotate their team and still pick up a comfortable win over the League Two side. Nevertheless, this could be an opportunity for Amorim to tinker with his side and give some much-needed minutes to certain players.
One of the biggest talking points for United over these last couple of weeks has been their goalkeeping situation. With Amorim seemingly not confident with either Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir, the club have reached into their pockets and found some more money for another incoming.
United are on the verge of completing the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. This, of course, would cast a shadow of doubt over the futures of Onana and Bayindir.
When it comes to Wednesday's fixture with Grimsby, we expect Onana to get his first opportunity of the new season. Benjamin Sesko could also make his first start for the club since signing from RB Leipzig.
Elsewhere, Bruno Fernandes is set to start in an advanced position, which should open the door for Kobbie Mainoo to get some minutes under his belt.
Meanwhile, academy prospect Tyler Fredricson, who featured on the bench against Fulham at the weekend, is also a possible option for Amorim heading into the cup game.
As far as absentees go, United remain without the injured duo of Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez.
While Martinez is set to be on the sidelines until late October, Mazraoui has almost completed his recovery and could be ready for action as early as this weekend.
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
Onana; Shaw, Fredricson, Maguire; Dalot, Mainoo, Ugarte, Dalot; Fernandes, Cunha; Sesko
