***Ed’s Note [Gav]:***Hey Dan. Firstly, cheers for the kind words… I think it’s the first time I’ve ever been referred to as mature and competent, but I suppose there’s a first time for everything.
I think a lot of the inner pessimism comes from Sunderland being generally shit for… well, forever, and having a series of crap owners and naff managers, as well as rubbish players. It’s like a reflex to immediately revert to type whenever something bad happens, despite the fact that every single bit of this football club right now is ran, to sorta borrow a word from you, competently.
I don’t know if people will ever change, but I know that I have. The more I’ve come to understand how this club now works, the more I find myself wholeheartedly supporting it. If that makes me a happy clapper, then I’ll wear that badge with pride. My priority as a supporter is the wellbeing of my football club, and to support them as best as I possibly can. They need us to remain as calm and steadfast as the people currently running the show if we’re going to stand a chance of succeeding this season, so I hope people learn from the aftermath of Burnley and remember how good we’ve actually got it right now.
