The latest injury news ahead of Manchester United's second round Carabao Cup clash at Grimsby Town
Ruben Amorim is plotting some changes to Manchester United’s line-up for their visit to Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils have started their Premier League campaign with a loss against Arsenal and a draw at Fulham. They make the trip to Blundell Park with a big chance to put their first win of the season on the board.
Amorim’s planned changes are not enforced by injury as the United boss looks to amend his starting XI with Saturday’s Premier League contest with Burnley set to play on his mind.
He said: “The way we play, we are going to change because we need to look at the opponent to understand what we need to do to win the game. We want to win. We know that in these kinds of games in the cups, anything is possible. So we need to win, we want to win.”
Grimsby Town injury news ahead of Man Utd
Grimsby have started their League Two campaign with three wins and two draws from their opening five games and sit fourth in the fourth division table.
They drew 1-1 with Accrington Stanley on Saturday after being dealt three injury blows in the lead up to the game. Doug Tharme, Kieran Green and Jamie Walker all missed the fixture and are likely to be out against United. Because of the injuries, manager David Artell admitted he had to field some players who were not yet up to speed.
Danny Rose and summer signing Jude Soonsup-Bell were in the squad and the Grimsby boss said: “We didn’t have much of an option, though, with the injuries we picked up this week. Rosey played the last ten minutes, but we don’t know how much more he would be able to handle at this point, so it shouldn’t surprise the fans if he is not involved in the next week or two.
"It was needs must in this situation, but we’ll keep working to get them fitter and sharper, and hopefully they’ll stay injury-free.”

United’s injury problems are limited heading into the game as they only have long-term absentee Lisandro Martinez ruled out along with Noussair Mazraoui. Martinez is not expected to play again for at least another few months.
Mazraoui played in the pre-season draw with Leeds United but has since been ruled out with a thigh problem. It has not yet been revealed when the defender will be available again but Amorim’s lack of update suggest he is not imminently set to make a comeback.
