Door open for Leeds United to land Champions League defender on loan

Leeds United are keen to add more fresh faces to their squad before the end of the transfer window next week. Daniel Farke is pushing to add more quality to his team as he is aware that staying up in the Premier League this season will be a huge challenge.

The Whites confirmed their 10th new signing of the summer on Monday when James Justin’s arrival was officially announced. Leeds have agreed to pay a fee of £10m to Leicester City for the signature of the versatile defender who can play in both full-back positions and as a centre-back.

Leeds remain keen to add one more striker and a creative winger or attacking midfielder before the transfer window closes next Monday night. Farke wants more goals and creativity added to their squad in the remaining days of the window.

However, there are still suggestions that Leeds could add one more centre-back to their squad if they decide to cash in on Pascal Struijk, who has attracted interest from Villarreal, who will play in the Champions League this season.

Leeds United target Diego Carlos is available on loan

Former Aston Villa centre-back Diego Carlos has been heavily linked with a move away from Fenerbahce in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Leeds have been monitoring him, and the club showed real interest in the Fenerbahce centre-back earlier in the window.

Fenerbahce are keen to move him on, and according to Fabrizio Romano, the club are open to different kinds of offers this summer.

It has been claimed that Fenerbahce are prepared to listen to permanent as well as loan offers for the centre-back in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Turkish giants are desperate to move him on and are prepared to loan the centre-back out before the September 1st transfer deadline.

Carlos is believed to be keen on a return to England, but his recent injury problems could be a major factor in deciding his fate in the coming days.

Do Leeds another defender?

Leeds have signed two centre-backs this summer, and Justin can also play at the heart of the defence if needed. Joe Rodon and Struijk have been the mainstays in their defence since last season.

The question marks over Struijk’s future have led to suggestions that Leeds may need one more centre-back before the end of the transfer window.

However, there is little to suggest that he will leave in the final days of the window, so the arrival of a new defender seems a bit excessive at this stage.

Carlos has Premier League experience, and while injury issues have not stopped Leeds from signing players, fans would not be enamoured about the club bringing in one more player with a questionable fitness record.
