Report: Wolves now intend to take a significant step to swat Newcastle away from Jorgen Strand…

Jorgen Strand Larsen was the subject of a rejected bid from Newcastle United on Monday – and now Wolves are ready to do something significant to keep the Magpies away from their number nine.

Despite offloading so many players this summer, fans are still fearing more departures.

And currently, Jorgen Strand Larsen is in the sights of Newcastle United, who are having a similarly tricky summer to Wolves.

The Norwegian has caught their attention after scoring 14 goals in the Premier League last season.

Newcastle supposedly see Strand Larsen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, who recently left as a free agent. But the timing of their interest is certainly interesting given all the talk about Alex Isak.

Wolves’ stance is that they don’t want to sell Strand Larsen, and have rejected Newcastle’s first bid of £50 million.

And the club are now preparing to do something to try and fend Newcastle off for good.

Strand Larsen is now one of Wolves’ most important players.

After the sales of key players like Matheus Cunha, Pablo Sarabia and Rayan Ait-Nouri, the onus is on him to deliver for Wanderers in 2025/26.

But now, it’s not guaranteed he’ll be sticking around.

But Wolves are looking to find that guarantee, in the form of offering the striker a new contract according to The Telegraph.

It is also mentioned that sources have indicated it would take at the very least £75 million to sell.

Newcastle are expected to bid again for Strand Larsen.

But it has also been claimed Wolves don’t believe Newcastle can present an acceptable offer for Strand Larsen.

Wolves have to do all they can to keep Strand Larsen

If this situation was happening a month or so ago, then there would perhaps be scope for Wolves selling.

But due to Wolves’ squad currently being extremely underprepared and short on quality, a sale for the number nine simply cannot be considered.

To sell Strand Larsen now, is to put the club’s Premier League status at risk.

At this stage of the window, it would be extremely hard to find a solid replacement who can hit the ground running immediately.

Strand Larsen is proven in the Premier League, and while Newcastle may actually be offering more than his true market value, Wolves have put themselves in a position where they can’t be selling to simply turn a quick profit.
