Video: Arne Slot's five-word message to Rio Ngumoha caught on camera after his goal for Liverpool vs Newcastle

Liverpool picked up a dramatic victory over Newcastle United thanks to young Rio Ngumoha.

The teenager is one of the most impressive talents in the country, and he caught everyone’s eye during the Reds’ pre-season games.

Ngumoha got no minutes in Liverpool’s Community Shield clash against Crystal Palace and Premier League opener against Bournemouth, but he was brought on as a substitute against Newcastle United on Monday night.

The 16-year-old stole the show.

What Arne Slot told Rio Ngumoha after his goal for Liverpool vs Newcastle United

Liverpool were not at their best against Newcastle United.

It was always going to be a tough game for the Reds at St James’ Park due to the Alexander Isak saga, and they learnt that pretty quickly.

Newcastle’s press was unbearable at times, and Liverpool just couldn’t get going as a result. However, despite their issues, they scored twice after Anthony Gordon’s red card.

The hosts levelled the game late on, and it looked like it would end 2-2. But, Rio Ngumoha, who came on in the 96th minute, had different ideas.

The teenager scored a lovely goal in the 100th minute of the game to give Liverpool a very important win, and his manager was delighted for him.

After the game, Arne Slot walked onto the pitch to shake hands with everyone, and he gave Ngumoha a big hug.

Liverpool have released that video, and you can hear what Slot says to the youngster before he pushes him towards the away fans to celebrate.

“What a moment, enjoy it,” Slot can be heard saying.

Rio Ngumoha showed immense composure with his goal

It’s never easy for a player to come on as a substitute in a tense game when your side have let go of a two-goal lead against 10 men

Ngumoha was brought on in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time, and you would’ve imagined that his role would be to see out the game.

However, the 16-year-old found himself at the end of a cross, and he slotted the ball into the corner with a finish that even Cristiano Ronaldo would’ve been proud of.

Showing that sort of composure at such a young age is absolutely phenomenal, and Liverpool fans are right to be excited about how good Ngumoha can be in the coming years.
