Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is one of the players who is most likely to depart the club before the transfer deadline.
The reality for Leeds United and Daniel Farke is that most of their transfer business regarding incomings is now done, and players leaving Leeds for cash has to be a priority now, given that PSR constraints are likely to be felt more.
With most players heading out on loan from the club, a sale or two feels necessary. Now the third-choice Leeds goalkeeper, Meslier has to be one of the likeliest candidates.
The Frenchman is one of several players who could yet leave Leeds before the deadline, as they look to cut their cloth accordingly and make room in the wage budget and create more PSR headroom.

Como set to leave Illan Meslier race by signing Leeds target Noel Tornqvist instead
It’s been said since Lucas Perri’s arrival that Leeds are now open to selling Meslier. In terms of a destination, PSG and Como are considering Meslier as a back up goalkeeper.
The writing is very much on the wall, with Meslier stripped of his Leeds shirt number for the start of the season, too. Perri has taken the number-one role in every single literal sense.
In recent weeks, it has been revealed that Leeds are said to be offering Meslier around for around £5-6 million in Europe. Now, Lorient want to re-sign Meslier as well after selling to Leeds in 2020.
It’s since been revealed Lorient’s manager has discussed the goalkeeper situation at the club. However, Meslier will have to take a pay cut at Lorient. That could be the stumbling block to overcome.

Therefore, other sides may be in the mix. Cesc Fabregas’ Como being one such side in Serie A. However, Fabrizio Romano’s latest reveal has explained a switch is now unlikely.
🚨🔵 Como have reached an agreement in principle with Swedish GK Noel Törnqvist to join the club.

This is where former Leeds target Noel Tornqvist comes in, as the Swede was very keen on a move to England this summer and Tornqvist was open to joining Leeds.
Instead, Romano states he is closing in on a move to Como instead of Meslier, which means one of the 25-year-old’s options could well be off the table.

Eddie Gray’s Illan Meslier verdict long-term
Eddie Gray still thinks Meslier will shine, suggesting that by 28 or 29, he will be playing for France.
“I think people have been a bit quick to criticise Meslier,” Gray said.
“Goalkeepers don’t mature till 28/29, and I think he’ll become a top goalkeeper.
“He’ll definitely play for France at the top level, he’s got all the attributes.”
Perhaps it will be to France and Lorient for Meslier yet, especially if they can iron out the finer details to make a move happen.
