Chelsea exit could now be‘accelerated’ after being spotted with another club’s owners - journalist

Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling goes into the final week of the summer transfer window not knowing where he’ll be playing his football this season.

Raheem Sterling has underwhelmed for the Blues since he joined them from Manchester City in 2022, and he had a quiet season-long loan spell at rivals Arsenal last year. Currently, the 30-year-old winger is with Chelsea’s bomb squad, waiting to find a new club.

Even though Sterling is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, time is running out to find a new club.

Chelsea would be happy to sell Sterling for £20m, which would mean a significant hit on the £47.5m they paid for him three years ago. Unfortunately, the English attacker has seen his individual levels dip significantly since leaving Man City.

Fulham could accelerate deal to sign Raheem Sterling

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack that Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali was spotted with Fulham owner Shahid Khan over the weekend.

He reports that the pair were discussing a deal for Sterling to make a direct switch to Craven Cottage. Apparently, there is an expectation that a deal can soon be agreed and ‘accelerated’ as well.

Phillips adds that Sterling views Fulham as a great fit for him because of the location, so the London rivals are trying to negotiate a permanent transfer.

Sterling was linked with Fulham back in July, so could the deal finally be sorted in the closing stages of the summer window?

He’s played for Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool during a remarkable club career in England’s top division. Without a doubt, he would bring plenty of experience and know-how to Marco Silva’s Fulham squad.

Should Raheem Sterling join Fulham?

Of course, Sterling needs to leave Chelsea before the transfer deadline to ensure he plays top-flight football this season. The proposal for him to join Fulham is certainly an interesting one.

At the moment, Fulham have the likes of Harry Wilson, Alexi Iwobi and Adama Traore competing for the starting positions in wide areas.

Sterling’s problem at Arsenal last season during his loan is he couldn’t get much of a look-in and spent most of his time on the bench, but we suspect he would have a much better opportunity to play at Fulham. If a deal can be finalised, it could be a no-brainer for all parties involved.
