Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport reported a battle involving Leeds United and Fulham for Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi. Now, West Ham have been pulled into the chase.
On multiple occasions, Marco Silva’s side have been reported as being closest to signing the Iranian. At one point the deal was said to be agreed, short of Taremi himself agreeing a pay cut.
Now, Quotidiano Sportivo report the 33-year-old is ‘glued to his phone’ for news regarding his future, keen on a move to the Premier League.
The outlet claim West Ham are now interested in the player, along with both Leeds and Fulham, with PSV Eindhoven now also in the race.
Inter are currently waiting for his sale, as this will grant them an extra €3m in their wage budget and they can work on more incomings using that. As of now, Taremi is training individually.
He is behind Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny in the pecking order and this is seen as a major ‘green light’ for a sale.
West Ham will have to deal with the same wage challenges that Fulham faced.
