Man United head coach says the club must sign players before transfer window closes

Man United head coach Marc Skinner reveals club are looking to bring in at least two players before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils prepare for the opening round of UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers as the side face PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday August 26.

The side have signed Swedish duo Fridolina Rolfö and Julia Zigiotti Olme so far this window, but the head coach affirms that they must secure more signatures in order to keep up with the demands of European football.

“We need to bring forward in in this window,” Skinner said. “Potentially, probably looking for two players in this window. We’re looking in those forward areas, so we have an array of options and people were looking at.”

“I think we’ve done two good bits of work here, but absolutely, I think we still need more. If I’m being honest, I think we’re still probably two players away from having the depth that I want. You don’t always get what you want, of course, in football, but the reality for me is that I think we still need to add a couple of kind of experienced players in that have this level of understanding so that we’re ready.

“Because should we qualify… we then have to maintain two high level games per week, so I think we still need a couple of players in and that’s something we’re working hard behind the scenes to do.”

No plans for Grace Clinton to depart

As per reports from The Times, England midfielder Grace Clinton has recently been linked to a move to Manchester City by the end of the window. The head coach confirmed that Clinton will not be fit to play PSV, but no plans of a move are in the works.

“I’ve not been told anything of the sort,” Skinner said. “So look, I’m sure there are people interested in Grace, because she’s a fantastic footballer. But the reality is, the club have not told me anything of that.

“I am now preparing for Champions League tomorrow and Grace is progressing nicely to being part of our our squad going forwards.”
