£12 million for midfielder – Can Sullivan resist a bargain | West Ham News

In their haste to try and get a midfielder deal over the line – something that has escaped the abilities of [Graham Potter,](https://www.claretandhugh.info/potter-discovers-how-many-games-to-save-his-job-report-west-ham-news/) Kyle Macaulay and David Sullivan between them for the first 80 plus days of the transfer window – the Hammers are evidently casting their eyes across the Premier League and just about every other European league in each of bargains.

With six days to go in the window it sure smacks of desperation.

The links with Tottenham’s **Yves Bissouma** in the last few days are troubling as here is another clearly unwanted, difficult to manage player who has been disciplined by Tottenham Hotspur for ‘persistent lateness’ – another latent dressing room divider if ever there was one.

The really concerning issue is that according to _[Everton.news](https://www.everton.news/yves-bissoumas-next-club-may-be-clear-as-everton-face-west-ham-competition/),_ Bissouma is available at a knock down price which may prove irresistible to David Sullivan now pulling the transfer strings once again.

Everton were chasing the player too ( _find me a player they’ve not been linked with!)_ and, according to the Toffees fan site:

_“There is a belief that Tottenham want around £12m to sell Bissouma before next Monday’s deadline.”_

Which is worrying – too good for Sullivan to resist?

We know Graham Potter is a fan of the midfielder, now 28:_“__The best Bissouma can play in the Champions League, absolutely. He’s got that quality, those attributes you need at that level. It’s about being consistent”._ ( Potter on Bissouma in 2022).

Trouble is, exactly as Hammers fans predicted would happen this summer, West Ham leave their business until the last six days of an almost three month window and then have their pick only of a handful of waifs, strays and nee’r-do-wells who remain available. And Bissouma might just end up being the best of the bunch.

We can only hope that the Irons’ negotiations go better than the Kudus capitulation and that the Hammers end up with the player on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
