Manchester City have seemingly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma before the September 1 transfer deadline.
The 26-year-old bid farewell to the Parc des Princes faithful after PSG beat Angers 1-0 in Ligue 1 last Friday, having been ostracised from Luis Enrique’s squad.
Donnarumma has been frozen out at PSG after failing to agree terms over a contract extension, with his current deal expiring in June 2026, and Lucas Chevalier has since arrived from Lille as his replacement.
The Italy international recently took to Instagram to announce his exit from PSG, expressing how “disappointed and disheartened” he is as “someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success.”
Donnarumma's agent, meanwhile, has criticised PSG’s treatment of the Euro 2020-winning goalkeeper and claims that the Ligue 1 champions have shown "zero respect" to his client.

Donnarumma ‘available for under £30m’ as Man City hope to find Ederson solution
The 6ft 5in shot-stopper is now on the lookout for a new club and it is understood that he has already agreed personal terms with Man City, who will only pursue a transfer if they agree to sell Ederson to Galatasaray.
Pep Guardiola recently remained coy on the future of Ederson, who was an unused substitute in Man City’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last weekend amidst uncertainty over his future.
The 32-year-old, who has less than a year remaining on his contract, was the subject of a €10m (£8.6m) offer from Galatasaray, but Man City are believed to be holding out for a fee closer to €25m (£21.6m) for the Brazil international.
According to**journalist Fabrice Hawkins**, talks are ongoing between Man City and Galatasaray, with the Citizens hoping to find a solution to transfer Ederson to Turkey.
Hawkins adds that Man City’s move for Donnarumma will only transpire if Ederson leaves and the Premier League giants have discovered that PSG are 'ready to accept' offers of around €30m (£25.9m) for the Italian.

Donnarumma rumours intensify in final week of transfer window
PSG had initially valued Donnarumma between €40m (£34.6m) and €45m (£38.9m), but their asking price has been reduced as they are keen for him to leave before the transfer window closes.
A separate report from Football Italia goes as far to say that a €30m (£25.9m) proposal has been sent to PSG by Man City and both clubs ‘trust’ that they can come to an agreement over the next few days.
However, suggestions that a deal is close have been played down by the Manchester Evening News, with Man City said to have denied claims that personal terms have been agreed with Donnarumma as they wait for clarity on Ederson's future.
Speculation over the futures of both Donnarumma and Ederson has intensified following the costly mistake made by City’s summer signing James Trafford on his Etihad Stadium debut in the defeat to Spurs last weekend.
Guardiola is not expected to lose faith in the 22-year-old just yet, though, and it has been suggested that Donnarumma is likely to make similar errors should he join Man City, considering that his distribution is not regarded as one of his greatest strengths.
