Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Crystal Palace’s interest in Juventus’ Lloyd Kelly. Sunderland have also emerged as a suitor for the defender, and have been mentioned repeatedly in recent weeks.
Kelly arrived in Turin initially on loan from Newcastle United in January and the Old Lady exercised their obligation to buy two months ago. The defender has not really made a mark in Italy and that is why he can be on his way out after less than a year.
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports Kelly is of interest to both Crystal Palace and Sunderland, who have made enquiries for the 26-year-old this summer.
There is hope for the two clubs in signing the centre-back, as Juve see Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Beraldo as his replacement. Initial discussions have also been held for the defender and a late move for him is very possible.
Crystal Palace are said to see Kelly as a replacement for Marc Guehi, which may be something of a stretch.
As for Sunderland, their offer for Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi is still on the table. The Colombian and Kelly are similar, left-footed players. So any move from the Black Cats may hinge on how their move for Lucumi goes.
